Hot Water Cylinders
What Is A Hot Water Cylinder?
The main role of a hot water cylinder is to store water and it to be heated with either an immersion or a coil. Most of the time an indirect hot water cylinder will be heated by a coil with an immersion heater as a backup. A direct hot water cylinder would be heated exclusively by immersion heaters. Most cylinders are made from stainless steel but copper hot water cylinders are also popular.
What Is The Difference Between a Vented and Unvented Hot Water Cylinder?
The main difference between a vented and unvented water storage cylinder is that an unvented hot water cylinder takes its water supply directly from the mains. Whereas a vented cylinder is connected to a water tank by a vent pipe
Should I have my Water Cylinder Serviced?
Yes, an unvented hot water cylinder requires an annual inspection of the key safety devices fitted to the system. You should be aware that the cylinder installed in your property is a pressurised container and will require regular maintenance just like a gas boiler
